Rebecca's Cafe Mobile - Proposal
Rebecca’s Cafe is one of the most popular spots on campus for students to grab a bite to eat, either alone or with their friends. Around lunchtime, the lines can get very long, winding all the way around the front of the restaurant and sometimes even back to the entrance door. College students and professors are busy people and don’t have time to wait in lines this long! In fact, many students, upon entering, when they see the lines are long, turn right back around and leave again.
Our app solves the problem of waiting in a 30-minute line for a sandwich. Targeted at busy college students, professors, and anyone else on the campus that enjoys good food, the app will have an ordering system, so that people can order their favorite Rebecca’s sandwich ahead, skip the line, pick up their food and move on with their day, hassle-free.
The app will have a main menu where users can access the hours of the cafe, including holiday hours, a menu for the restaurant where users can save their favorite meals for easy-access ordering later, and the specials for the day. Users can save specials, as well, and get notified when they are being served. The main menu will also have an order function, where the user can select from their favorites or the menu, customize their sandwich, grill item, or “Chef’s Special” meal, and pay using a meal plan or credit card on the app. If ordering for a friend, users will be able to send them the total, virtually “splitting the check”, so they don’t have to spend precious meal swipes on their friend! The user will be able to select a pick-up time, and the app will notify the user when the meal is ready.
Our Rebecca’s App aims to eliminate a lot of the lunch rush, instead letting people order ahead of time and pick up when they are ready. This will hopefully allow for the staff of Rebecca’s to work more efficiently too, because orders will be able to be more spread out instead of having to work very fast to get through the long lines. The lines at the register won’t be as long either, as users with meal plans or credit cards can pay through the app, so they are all set to just pick up their meal and go.
